Training Programs at Anesthesia Associates of Gainesville

AAG hosts a robust Clinical Training Program for both Anesthesiologist Assistant Students (SAA) and Student Nurse Anesthetists (SRNA) at our 3 hospital locations and 5 ambulatory surgery centers. AAs and CRNAs are highly trained professionals that function within the care team model providing fast paced decision making, situational awareness, and procedural excellence under the supervision of an Anesthesiologist.

Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGHS) and the Georgia Heart Institute hosts a full subspecialty case mix and AAG engages in complete scope of anesthesia practice. Anesthesia trainees can expect to receive advanced training and hands on experience in:

  1. Neurosurgery
  2. Cardiothoracic Surgery
  3. Robotic Surgery
  4. OBGYN, including high risk
  5. Level 1 Trauma Surgery
  6. Regional Anesthesia
  7. Outpatient Pediatric Surgery
  8. Rural/Limited Resource Surgical Care
  9. Structural Heart and Electrophysiology Procedures

Trainees can expect direct, longitudinal mentorship from a seasoned anesthetist educator and a structured curriculum including formal intraoperative teaching, simulation lab access for skills-based training, a robust selection of non-OR electives (ICU, Preoperative Testing, Regional Anesthesia, PACU care, Emergency Department, Anesthesia Technologist), and frequent feedback to target personal professional growth.

AAG also hosts a Pre-Professional Shadowing Program for those interested in learning more about the Anesthesiologist, Anesthesiologist Assistant, or Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) professions through formal shadowing.
